Welcome to expertvillage.com. I'm Patrick Eaves with Wingenvy Paragliding. In this clip, we're going to be talking about how to pack your wing up. There's a couple of different ways to do this, but we're going to try to show you both of the most important ones. Which ever one you do, we're going to assume that you're going to do it without your harness connected in. Later on in your training, your instructor will show you how to do it with you harness connected in. It's basically the same idea. For now, you're going to go ahead and unclip your risers from your harness. Remember, again hold from where the carabiners attach into your harness and they won't pass through each other and get tangled. Then I'm going to put these risers under my arm to hold them together. I'm going to loop up the lines and I'm going to toss them up onto the wing so that they're inside the wing when I fold them. The risers are going to outside of the wing. That way they're not passing through the lines and getting tangled. Your next step is going to be to fold in the edges of the glider. You're going to take one tip and fold it to the center and you're going to take that tip and fold it to the center. Then you're going to keep that process going until your glider is about a foot 1/2 to 2 feet wide. The last step is to putting your risers up on the wing. If you have a protection bag for your risers, you can put that in it. That keeps the risers away from the line so it doesn't get tangled. This method is the accordion method. You can do it with one person, but it's a lot easier with two. The reason we use this method is to protect the mylar inserts in the leading edge. So basically what happens is Eric folds it over each time making sure that mylar inserts and the leading edge lay flat. After you've finished this top part of the accordian method, the rest of the steps are the same as in the first method.
