A copy of this film survives at The Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Esther is beautiful beneath the surface, in an office where the surface is all that matters. Plus she has brains and about 100 extra pounds. Her nasty, brutish, and tall colleagues (Donna, Caroline, and Erica) make fun of her even as they depend on her knowledge. One day, she excitedly offers to show them a portrait she's had taken by Bud, of "Bud's Glamour Shots," who had spammed the office with an e-mail promising a picture that will reveal her true inner self. Cut to Esther, driving home in tears. That night she sleeps with the portrait near the bed and awakes to discover something extraordinary. When the three harpies see the result, will they book a session with Bud? Written by
After a long absence, artist Margaret Church (Cecilia Peck, real life daughter of Gregory Peck) returns to her aging parent's home to finish a portrait of them. Her parents, Gardner and Fanny Church (Gregory Peck and Lauren Bacall), unbeknownst to Margaret have sold the family home and are moving. While coming to grips with the loss of her childhood home and the memories it held, Margaret must deal with many issues ranging from her father's frequent & disturbing memory lapses, to her feelings of isolation from her parents. Fanny and Gardner are totally devoted to each other and absorbed in their love and life together, making their daughter feel left out. While struggling to get her parents to sit still long enough to paint their portrait, Margaret thinks they don't take her or her painting seriously. A conversation with her father makes Margaret finally come to the realization that her parents love her, appreciate her painting career and that they can't & won't change at their ages. Returning to NY for her premier art showing with the finished portrait, Margaret realizes that she will be a much happier person if she accepts her parents as they are. Written by E.W. DesMarais
People say that taking pictures is a talent. However for an unfortunate few, it is a curse. Portrait is a film that shows a story of a photographer in Luneta Park. He sees all the goodness in people and precious moments behind his camera. The problem is no one sees him like he sees everyone else. Written by Anonymous
