The History Channel UK is a television channel Broadcasting programmes related to historical events and persons. The channel is owned by a joint-venture between British Sky Broadcasting and A&E Television Networks, owner of the American The History Channel. It was launched in November 1995 and was the first version of The History Channel to launch outside the United States. The version which is broadcast in the UK is also available in Iceland (as off April 1, 2007), the Republic of Ireland (as of November 1999), Finland,Belgium and the Netherlands with local subtitles.
