Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat is a 2003 live-action film, based on the 1957 book, produced by Universal Studios, DreamWorks Pictures, and Imagine Entertainment. It was produced by Brian Grazer and directed by Bo Welch; it starred Mike Myers in the title role of the Cat in the Hat, and Dakota Fanning as Sally. Sally's brother, who is not named in the book, is known in this version as "Conrad" and played by Spencer Breslin.
While the basic plot of the live-action adaptation of The Cat in the Hat rotates around that of the book, the film filled out its 82 minutes by adding new subplots and characters quite different from those of the original story. As a result of the frequent mature themes, the widow of Theodore Geisel (who holds the rights to his work) declared that there are to be no more live-action movies based on the works of Dr. Seuss; arguing that the film has clearly deviated from her late husband's family-friendly work. The film received a "two thumbs down" rating from Ebert and Roeper.
The Cat in the Hat is an animated musical television special, based on the 1957 Dr. Seuss book The Cat in the Hat, produced by DePatie-Freleng Enterprises. Allan Sherman provided the voice of The Cat in the Hat. This special was produced by Friz Freleng, Chuck Jones, Dr. Seuss and David H. DePatie, and directed by Hawley Pratt; it first aired on CBS on March 10, 1971. (Production originally started at Chuck Jones' MGM Animation studio, but was completed at DePatie-Freleng.) The special loosely follows the shell of the book's plot, but throws in some new material to fill out the show's 26-minute time slot.
Two children left home alone for a short while one afternoon are visited by a very interesting yet troublesome cat wearing a tall striped hat. The cat succeeds in creating a huge mess in their house - can they get it cleaned up before Mom gets home? Written by scgary66
Conrad and Sally Walden (Spencer Breslin and Dakota Fanning) are home alone with their pet fish. It is raining outside, and there is nothing to do. Until The Cat in the Hat (Mike Myers) walks in the front door. He introduces them to their imagination, and at first it's all fun and games, until things get out of hand, and The Cat must go, go, go, before their parents get back. Written by Anonymous
