Rebecca Balding (born on September 21, 1955) is an American actress who was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. She is married to television producer James L. Conway.
She has a long list of film and television credits to her name. She is best known for her role as Elise Rothman on Charmed and for her role as Carol David on Soap. Balding also appeared in a first season episode of Charmed (The Fourth Sister) as Aviva's Aunt Jackie, and in further episodes as Phobe's editor Elis and played Corky Crandall in the 1970s sitcom Makin' It. She also played reporter Carla Madigan during the first three episodes of the 1970s-80s drama Lou Grant, before her character was written out.
Rebecca attended the University of Kansas.
Cute, perky and engaging brunette actress Rebecca Balding was born on September 21st, 1955 in Little Rock, Arkansas. The sweetly comely and spirited Balding first began acting on television in the mid 70's. She played an eager beaver cub reporter on three episodes of "Lou Grant." Rebecca achieved her greatest and most enduring popularity as Carol David, the young lady who becomes a surrogate mother for gay Billy Crystal's child on the uproarious TV comedy program "Soap." She also portrayed David Naughton's receptionist girlfriend in the sitcom "Makin' It." Balding tackled two substantial starring roles in a couple of hugely enjoyable early 80's horror pictures: she's the endearingly spunky college student heroine of the superior slasher winner "Silent Scream" and an equally likable damsel in distress in the immensely entertaining creature feature "The Boogens." Alas, Balding's fright film scream queen phase proved to be sadly fleeting. However, Rebecca has racked up an impressively large volume of guest spot credits on numerous TV shows: Among the television programs she's appeared in are "ER," "Melrose Place," "Beverly Hills, 90210," "Home Improvement," "MacGyver," "Our House," "Family Ties," "Trapper John, M.D.," "Hotel," "Matt Houston," "Gimme A Break," "The Insiders," "Cagney and Lacey," "This Is The Life," "I'm A Big Girl Now," "Super Train," "Barnaby Jones," "The Bionic Woman," and "Starsky and Hutch." Moreover, Rebecca gave a beautifully touching performance as Edward Asner's estranged dejected daughter in the poignant made-for-TV drama gem "The Gathering" and its lesser, more mawkish sequel "The Gathering, Part II." More recently Balding has popped up in a steady recurring part as Alyssa Milano's boss Elise Rothman on the hit TV series "Charmed." She's married to TV producer Jon Pare.
