Paul Henry Hopkins (September 25, 1904 - January 2, 2004) was a right-handed relief pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the Washington Senators (1927, 1929) and St. Louis Browns (1929).
Hopkins was born in Chester, Connecticut. His major league debut came on the same day that Babe Ruth hit his record-tying 59th home run on September 29, 1927. Hopkins said he did not know that he would be facing Ruth when he entered the game in the fifth inning with the bases loaded. He finished his career with a record of 1-1, 11 strikeouts, and a 2.96 earned run average in 11 games; he left St. Louis following the 1929 season after injuring a tendon.
Hopkins died in Deep River, Connecticut at 99 years of age. At the time of his death, he was reported to be the oldest living former major-league player.
Paul Hopkins (born November 29, 1986) is an English footballer previously of Everton F.C. He is a striker who can also play on the right wing position.
On August 16, 2005 he made his England Under-20s debut, coming on as a substitute during their 4-0 defeat to Russia.
He spent a period of 2006 on loan at Darlington where he scored one goal. In April of the same year he was released from Everton Football Club.
In July 2006 Hopkins joined AFC Bournemouth on a pre-season trial.
Hopkins signed for struggling Republic of Ireland Premier Division side Waterford United on July 15th 2006.
It is rumoured that Hopkins will sign for 2005 eircom League Champions Cork City FC in February 2007.
Unfortunately for Paul, his trial with Cork City wasn't successful as manager Damien Richardson claimed that he wanted "quality and not potential". Richardson, however also explained that he will monitor Hopkins future progress.
Paul Hopkins (born July 12, 1968) is a Canadian television, film and theatre actor known to US audiences for his portrayal of Michael "Mouse" Tolliver in the TV miniseries More Tales of the City (1998) and its follow-up Further Tales of the City (2001). These miniseries were sequels to Tales of the City (1994), which starred Marcus D'Amico in the role of Mouse. Paul is also known for his portrayal of Karl in the Canadian TV series Vampire High (2001-2002).
