Paul Allen (footballer) (Wikipedia.org)

Paul Allen (born August 28, 1962 in Aveley, Thurrock, Essex) was an English footballer in the 1980s and 1990s. His position was midfield.

He was most famous for being the youngest player to play in an FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium. Allen was 17 years and 256 days old when he appeared for West Ham United in 1980, against Arsenal. He was not however, the youngest player ever to appear in an FA Cup Final.

Paul Allen (author) (Wikipedia.org)

Paul Allen (born 24 March 1968 in Sheffield, England) is an author currently living in Hamilton, Ontario. Allen is best known for his debut work, Flying With The Owls Crime Squad, which he wrote with Douglas Naylor.

The middle of three brothers, Paul was always the rebel of the three - each developed an interest in football, but whereas his siblings, Mark and Craig, became Sheffield United fans, Paul decided to support Leeds United. This did not last long however, and by the age of 10 he was regularly attending matches at Hillsborough, the home of Sheffield Wednesday, with school friends. It also helped that he often received free tickets from a local newsagent, for whom he worked.

By the mid-1980s Paul had developed a taste for football hooliganism, and he became a member of the Sheffield Wednesday hooligan gang, the Owls Crime Squad. He would remain an active member until 1995 when he left the British Isles to take a job in Canada. Flying With The Owls Crime Squad is Paul's memoir of this period in his life, and also of growing up in Sheffield at a time when the city was being de-industrialized.

In 2007 Paul contributed to a book about the history of the steel city football rivalry. The book, entitled Divide of the Steel City, is written partly from a Sheffield Wednesday perspective, and partly from the viewpoint of Sheffield United. Tony Cronshaw is the principal Owls author, but Allen contributes extensively, and also edited much of the work. The book, published by Pennant Publishing, is due out in April of 2007.

This work is no longer considered definitive.

Paul Allen (radio) (Wikipedia.org)

Paul Allen (sometimes referred to as P.A.) is a radio broadcaster on KFAN radio (1130 AM) in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. He is currently the play-by-play announcer on the Minnesota Vikings radio network since 2002 and co-host of the P.A. & Dubay Show, along with Jeff Dubay, since 1998. Outside of his radio work, Allen is the track announcer at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minnesota.

Allen is well known for his call of a Week 17 game in 2003 when the Vikings played the Arizona Cardinals, as Cardinals quarterback Josh McCown completed a game-winning 28-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Nate Poole to eliminate the Vikings from playoff contention:

PA: "Here it is! The season's on the line! Two receivers left and right! McCown takes the snap! He steps up! He's all by himself! Fires into the end zone! CAUGHT!....TOUCHDOOOOWN! NOOOO! (pause) NOOOO! The Cardinals have knocked the Vikings out of the playoffs!"
