Paramount Vantage (originally known as Paramount Classics) is the specialty film division of Paramount Pictures (which in turn is part of Viacom), charged with producing, purchasing, distributing and marketing films, generally those with a more "art house" feel than films made and distributed by its parent company.
The Paramount Vantage brand branched off of Paramount Classics in 2006. The Paramount Classics brand was relaunched in 2007 as a distributor of "smaller, review-driven films including foreign-language acquisitions and documentaries."blank">http://www.paramountvantage.com/blog/?p=5
In 2007, Paramount Vantage co-produced 2 films with _Miramax Films which were released in successive months: No Country for Old Men (released in November) and There Will Be Blood (released in December). The partnership hit paydirt when both films were nominated for the Best Picture at the 80th Academy Awards, with the former film getting the award. Combined, these 2 films won 6 awards, which included the Best Picture award for No Country for Old Men as well as both the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor awards (won by There Will Be Blood's Daniel Day-Lewis and No Country for Old Men's Javier Bardem, respectively).
