Opernball (Opera Ball) is a 1998 made-for-TV movie by Urs Egger based on a 1995 novel by Austrian writer Josef Haslinger in which thousands of people are killed in a Neo-Nazi terrorist attack taking place during the Vienna Opera Ball. The film starred Heiner Lauterbach, Franka Potente, Frank Giering, Caroline Goodall, Gudrun Landgrebe and Désirée Nosbusch.

Opernball (German for Opera Ball) can mean any of the following:

• any ball which takes place in a theatre where operas are performed;

• in particular, the Vienna Opera Ball (Wiener Opernball), an annual society event held at the Vienna State Opera;

• the Viennese Opera Ball in Dubai (Wiener Opernball in Dubai), a charity event founded in 2005 by Mahshid Amir-Mokri and held annually at the Madinat Jumeirah Confrence Centre blank">http://www.madinatjumeirah.com/;

• the Viennese Opera Ball in New York (Wiener Opernball in New York), a charity event founded in 1956 by Austrian immigrants to New York City and held annually at the _Waldorf Astoria blank">http://www.vienneseoperaball.com/;

• Der Opernball, an 1898 operetta by _Richard Heuberger set at the Paris Opera towards the end of the 19th century;
• several musical films based on this operetta, with the action relocated to Vienna:
• Opernball (1939), a German musical comedy directed by Géza von Bolváry starring Marte Harell, Paul Hörbiger, Hans Moser, and Theo Lingen;
• Opernball (1956), an Austrian remake by Ernst Marischka starring Hertha Feiler, Johannes Heesters, Josef Meinrad and again Hans Moser and Theo Lingen. The movie was presumed lost for almost 40 years, until a misplaced negative was discovered at the Austrian Film Archives;
