John Thomas (March 1, 1826 - March 19, 1913) was a Welsh composer and harpist. He took the bardic name Pencerdd Gwalia.
He taught at the Royal College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music, and was harpist to Queen Victoria.
John Thomas (1724 – 2 June 1776) was an American doctor and soldier from Massachusetts who became a major general in the Continental Army. He was a leader during the siege of Boston. Thomas briefly commanded the withdrawal from Canada after the unsuccessful invasion by the Continental Army. He died from smallpox during the retreat.
Thomas was born in Marshfield, Massachusetts. As a young man he studied medicine with Doctor Tufts in Medford before beginning his own practice in Kingston.

John Thomas VC (1886 - 1954) was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
He was 31 years old, and a Lance-Corporal in the 2/5th Battalion, The North Staffordshire Regiment (The Prince of Wales's), British Army during the First World War when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC.
On 30 November 1917 at Fontaine, France, Lance-Corporal Thomas saw the enemy making preparations for a counter-attack so with a comrade and on his own initiative decided to make a close reconnaissance. They went off in full view of the enemy and under heavy fire. His comrade was hit almost immediately, but Lance-Corporal Thomas went on alone and finally reached a building used by the enemy as a night post. He was able to see where their troops were congregating and after staying for an hour, sniping the enemy, returned with information of the utmost value, which enabled plans to be made to meet the counter-attack.
John B. E. Thomas was a Calvinistic Methodist preacher from Wales.
Thomas, a renowned preacher who died of a brain haemorrhage in his early forties at the end of the 1960s, was the pastor of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church ("Forward Movement") in Aberavon, Dr Martyn Lloyd Jones' former church. Thomas was an evangelical Christian. The church was packed for his funeral service. He attended Trefeca College at the same time as Gareth Davies and Hugh Morgan.
John Curtis Thomas (born 1941-03-03) is an American track and field athlete who set several world records in the high jump using the straddle technique. At the age of 17, while a freshman at Boston University, Thomas became the first man to clear 7 feet indoors. He subsequently pushed the world indoor record to 7'1-1/2", and broke the world outdoor record three times, with a career best jump of 7'3-3/4" in 1960 while just 20 years old.
Thomas' meteoric career briefly captivated the track world, but was besmirched by his failure to win an Olympic gold medal, despite being favored to win in both his efforts. In 1960, he took the bronze medal behind Russia's Robert Shavlakadze (gold), and Valery Brumel (silver) In 1964 he was bested by again by Brumel, who cleared the same top height as Thomas, but was declared the winner based on fewer misses at lower heights. Thomas graduated from Boston University, and later became a successful coach and businessman. He is an inductee of the USATF Hall of Fame.

John Thomas (born September 8 1975 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is an American professional basketball player. He was the captain of the Minnesota Golden Gophers team that advanced to the 1997 NCAA Final.
Selected by the New York Knicks with the 25th pick in the 1997 NBA Draft although he never played a game with them as he was traded, along with Dontae' Jones, Walter McCarty and Scott Brooks to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Chris Mills and two conditional second-round draft choices on October 22, 1997. Four months later, he was again traded, this time to the Toronto Raptors, alongside Chauncey Billups, Dee Brown and Roy Rogers, for Kenny Anderson, Zan Tabak and Popeye Jones. He signed as a free agent with the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 2004, appearing in 44 games over the course of the entire season. Thomas was claimed off waivers by the Atlanta Hawks in November 2005 from the Memphis Grizzlies and subsequently placed on waivers again on January 5, 2006. To complete the season he appeared in two games with the New Jersey Nets.
John Thomas is an American screenwriter based in California. With his brother Jim Thomas he wrote or was substantially involved in the screenplays of the following films: Predator (1987), Predator 2 (1990), Executive Decision (1996), Wild Wild West (1999), Mission to Mars (2000), and Behind Enemy Lines (2001).
