"Good Times" is a 1979 song composed by Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers. It was first recorded by their band Chic, for their 1979 album Risqué. In August of that year, it became the band's second #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100. "Good Times" has become one of the most sampled pieces of music in history, most notably in rap and hip-hop music.
The song is ranked #224 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
"Good Times" was a single released in Australia in December 1986. It was recorded by Australian rock acts Jimmy Barnes and INXS to promote the national Australia Made series of concerts that took place between Boxing Day 1986 and Australia Day 1987.
Originally performed by The Easybeats and written by George Young and Harry Vanda, this version reached No. 2 on the Australian chart and the following year featured in the Joel Schumacher film The Lost Boys, leading to chart positions in both the US (where it reached #47) and the UK, where it peaked at #16.
The song was performed on the Top 12 Results Show of the second season of Australian Idol in 2004. This version of the song was then released by the Top 10 finalists nearly 4 months after the live show. It was released as a 1 track CD single and reached a peak of #51 on the ARIA Singles charts.
