George Lane (born 1964 ) is a British "mental calculator" and author. He is a three-times world champion and one of only three Grandmasters of Mental Calculation, as recognised by the Mind Sports Organisation. His system of mental calculation is described in his best-selling book , now registered under the new (13-digit format) ISBN 9781843581413. George is a member of the "Mental Calculations" users' group on the 'net via 'Yahoo!' and can be contacted via this group for forther information & assistance regarding mental calculations tasks.
George Lane (1939 - July 7, 2004) was a trader, author, educator, speaker and technical analyst. He is widely acknowledged for developing and popularizing the stochastic oscillator, which is one of the core indicators in use today among technical analysts. Lane was also President of Investment Educators Inc. in Watseka, Illinois, where he taught investors and financial professionals basic and advanced technical analysis methods.
George Lane was a politician and rancher and known as one of the "Big 4" who help found the Calgary Stampede in 1912.
George was foreman at the world famous Bar-U Ranch.
In the 1913 Alberta general election George was elected as the first member for the Bow Valley riding for the Alberta Liberal Party. He was somewhat of a star candidate for the Liberal Party, and helped keep a critical southern Alberta seat from going Conservative.
He defeated Conservative Incumbent Harold Riley who had changed from the Gliechen district.
George would spend very little time as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, he would resign a short time later so that defeated Cabinet Minister Charles R. Mitchell could re-gain a seat in the legislature.
