Dominik Hrbatý (born January 4 1978, Bratislava) is a professional tennis player from Slovakia. The right-handed Hrbatý is nicknamed " The Dominator" and in 1996 was named ATP Newcomer of the Year. He is coached by Tibor Toth.
Hrbatý has won 6 singles ATP tour tournaments - the 1999 San Marino and Prague, the 2001 Auckland, and 2004 Adelaide, Auckland and Marseille events. His highest ATP Entry Ranking has been World No. 12, a ranking he achieved on October 18 2004.
In Perth, Western Australia in 2005, Hrbaty paired with teammate Daniela Hantuchová to win the Hopman Cup for Slovakia. As of September 2006, he has won over $6,100,000 in prize money.
In the 2005 Davis Cup final, Hrbatý handed Croat star Ivan Ljubičić his only loss in the Davis Cup season to send the tie to a deciding 5th rubber, which Croatia ultimately won.
Hrbatý is known for being one of the fitter players on the ATP circuit (winning 3 out of 4 straight 5 set matches at the 2006 Australian Open), having a strong two-handed backhand, and for creating a stir by wearing pink tennis polos with holes cut in the back of the shirt to create ventilation. In 2006, he reached his first Masters Series Final in Paris before losing to Nikolay Davydenko of Russia 6-1, 6-2, 6-2.
He has perfect head-to-head record blank">(2-0) against the current ATP No. 1 _Roger Federer and a winning head-to-head record blank">(3-1) against the current ATP No. 2 _Rafael Nadal.
In 2007, Hrbaty lost in the first round of both Wimbledon (to Andreas SeppiGB/bios/cmatch/ms/atph377.html" target="_blank">http://championships.wimbledon.org/en_GB/bios/cmatch/ms/atph377.html) and the _French Open, (to Bohdan Ulihrach, who won in five sets, 6-2, 5-7, 6-7, 6-4, 6-3.http://2007.rolandgarros.org/en_FR/bios/cmatch/ms/atph377.html). As of July 18, Hrbaty has 8 wins but 16 losses in 2007. In September 2007, he underwent an operation of his right elbow, which has been limiting him most of the season.
