"Bounce" is a pop rock/R&B song performed by German singer Sarah Connor. The song samples from Mary J. Blige's 2001 "Family Affair". It was the 4th and final single off her second album Unbelievable; and the lead single off her self titled U.S. debut.
"Bounce" was originally released in Germany in July, 2003. Despite being one of her greatest performing singles (and one of her signature songs) Sarah was pregnant at the time and unable to promote. The song peaked at #12 and was the 68th best-selling single in 2003 in Germany.
In Winter 2004 a pair of American DJs got a hold of a copy of the single and began to give it airplay. It soon was receiving huge US airplay charting at #11 on Billboard's 'Top 40 Mainstream' and #21 on Billboard's 'Top 40 tracks' charts. It finally charted on Billboard's biggest chart 'The top 100' peaking at #54. 'Bounce' was officially released on a physical single on May 11, 2004.
A self-titled compilation album to follow "Bounce"'s success was released however it performed poorly only charting at #106 on the top 200 chart. By the time 'Bounce' found airplay in the U.S. Sarah was heavily pregnant with her first son Tyler. The self-titled album was released a week after her son was born. Connor was unable to do any promotion. She has not tried to release in the U.S. since though rumor has it her seventh album may be released there.
